The Problem
Black Travel Summit was growing fast, but its visual identity wasn’t keeping up. Their landing page and brand materials didn’t reflect the premium, dynamic experience they were known for. Internally, it was also difficult to maintain visual consistency when working with new team members and volunteers.
On top of that, the founder was juggling different designers and struggling to find someone who could truly understand the vision and deliver across all touchpoints with care and clarity.
The Solution
We started with their landing page (see here)—designed to feel bold, editorial, and clean, while integrating motion, custom icons, and their signature brand pattern. I restructured the layout so that the most important information led the narrative, and visitors could instantly get a feel for the energy and quality of the summit.
Their current brand fonts leaned a bit too traditional, so I introduced Barlow Condensed Bold for added punch, bringing in a more modern and expressive feel without losing polish.
From there, we expanded into designing social media templates, a pitch deck, and a refreshed brand guideline that made it easy for internal teams and future designers to create on-brand materials without guesswork.
Throughout the process, I prioritised clarity, consistency, and scalability, making sure every asset reflected where the brand was headed, not just where it had been.
The Outcome
Anita, the founder, shared that this was the happiest she’d ever been with their branding. The new site became a strong home base for public-facing communications and helped elevate Black Travel Summit’s credibility before attendees even walked through the doors.
Internally, the team finally had practical tools and upgraded guidelines to work with, saving time and ensuring quality across the board. The trust we built meant that what began as a single landing page quickly grew into an ongoing design partnership.
What I Loved
This was a true collaboration. I wasn’t just applying a brand—I was trusted to evolve it. From day one, I was encouraged to bring ideas to the table and shape the experience holistically. Being invited back for more work as the relationship grew was the biggest compliment.
Don't just take my word for it...
