The Brief
Valentina, a nutrition and wellness advisor, was building a platform to help Black women navigate holistic health. Inspired by her own health journey and the biblical principle of Daniel 1:8, she wanted to bridge the gap between spiritual wellness and practical nutrition.
The challenge was information overload. Her audience—career-oriented women aged 30–35—was battling fatigue, hormonal imbalances, and "wellness jargon." The brand needed to feel like a breath of fresh air: calm, authoritative, and culturally relevant, dispelling the myth that healthy eating requires abandoning cultural identity or embracing expensive, niche diets.
The Process
We started with a strategy session to identify the brand’s core voice: calm, assertive, and colloquial. We focused on the transformation rather than the services themselves.
For the visual identity, I strategically chose to keep the logo simple. By not over-designing the wordmark, we created space for the rest of the visual system to breathe & express itself. Colour-wise, we moved away from "loud" fitness neon, opting for a palette of sage & olive greens, soft yellows, and mineral tones to signal restoration.
To add texture and depth, I hand-drew botanical illustrations (olive branches, vines, fig leaves etc.) that were inspired by biblical imagery and reflected the "nourishment from the earth" concept.
A brand is only as good as its execution. I created an easy-to-read guideline sheet to ensure that as Valentina scales into workshops and 1:1 coaching, her Instagram and digital touchpoints remain cohesive and professional.
The Outcome
We successfully transitioned Nutrition with Valentina from a personal mission into a professional, scalable brand identity. The final system achieves a rare balance: it is sophisticated enough to signal expertise, yet warm enough to feel accessible to women seeking a "safe space" for their health.
By focusing on a comprehensive system rather than just a logo, Valentina now has the tools to show up consistently. The brand doesn't just look "better"—it feels considered, intentional, and ready to influence wellness policy and community health.
